Here is how you make Mike's Smothered Pork Chops:

In a large skillet, heat olive oil, add garlic. Sautee until brown. Add onions and pork chops and braise until both sides are brown. Add water to cover pork chops. Cover & simmer for about 45 minutes on medium heat. Meanwhile, cook rice as normal. Add mixed corn starch (mix with water in a separate bowl or measuring cup to avoid making lumps in your pan), stir well. Add browning sauce and re-cover, simmering 10-15 more minutes.
