Preheat Oven to 392 ?FStir cream, milk and garlic in a medium bowl.Peel potatoes, and slice into 3 - 4 mm thick slices. Layer potato slices in a 2.7 quart capacity baking dish, seasoning with salt between layers. Pour cream mixture over potatoes. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes, or until potato is tender when tested with a knife. Discard foil.Increase oven temperature to 428 ?FSprinkle potato with grated cheese.
