Here is how you make Southern Style Green Beans with brown rice:

Cut bacon into squares, put in a soup pot and turn heat to medium. Let bacon cook, stirring occasionally.Chop onion, one medium or whatever size you have, add to bacon.Add black pepper, about 1/2 t but to tasteAdd 1/4 c white vinegarAdd 1/3 c splenda granulated sugar substituteStirAdd frozen or fresh green beansstirAdd chicken stockstir and bring to a boil, then cover pot with a lid and place on simmer. Add more vinegar or sweetener to taste, I like a good balance and it's really to your taste. I don't add salt because even though the bacon is low sodium and so is the chicken stock, there seems to be plenty of salt for my taste.Let simmer until beans are cooked to your liking. It usually takes a good 3 hours simmer. Make brown rice per package directions, except I add garlic powder, parsley and onion powder to the water.
