Brown the venison in a cast iron skillet and set aside. Cut the brats into bite-sized chunks and brown in the same skillet. When the brats are just about ready, add the onion and continue cooking to the onions begin to look translucent. Add the venison to this and mix well. Put this mixture into stock pot.Using a 2 quart measuring cup and a strainer, strain the kidney and black beans, and the diced tomatoes, reserving the juice. Put the tomatoes and beans into the stockpot with the meat and onions. Add enough water to the bean and tomato juice to get 5 cups of liquid. Add the chicken soup base to this and mix well. Add the liquid to the stockpot.Heat to simmering. While the stockpot is heating up, brown the 2 cups of rice in the cast iron skillet. (medium high heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning or popping the rice) By the time the rice has a nice golden brown tint, the pot should be simmering. Add the rice to the stockpot. Add the remaining ingredients to the pot and stir it up.Heat to a boil. Then, turn heat to the lowest setting, cover and cook for approximately 45 minutes.
