Laura's Lean Sirloin Steak, cubed1/4 cup white all purpose flour 1 tsp black pepper 1 28 oz. can diced tomatoes 4 large stalks celery 1 large yellow onion 1 large green bell pepper 1 cup water 1 cup long grain white rice (measure uncooked) How Do I Make Swiss Steak with Rice and Vegetables?Here is how you make Swiss Steak with Rice and Vegetables: Note: Ask the butcher at the grocery to "cube" the meat for you.This recipe is made in an electric skillet.Chop the celery, onion and green pepper into large pieces, set aside.Divide the steak into 4, 4 oz. pieces. Flour each side and sprinkle with pepper. Brown each side of the steak, but don't cook completely (about 3 minutes on each side). Pour overtop of the steak the tomatoes (do not drain), and vegtables. Then add about a cup of water (I use the can to get the excess tomatoes). Do not stir. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer while you cook the rice. Cook the rice as directed on the box (note that adding butter will increase the nutional values).
