This is the healthy version of the "Red Rice" that my mother made (she uses regular sausage, garlic salt and white instant rice), that she modified from my grandmothers recipe (she made it with real rice, bone in chicken and black beans).

What Are The Ingredients For Red Rice Recipe?

The ingredients for Red Rice are:

about 4 cups of minute instant brown rice (dry rice)
2 8oz cans of tomato sauce
1 16oz tube of turkey sausage
about 2 tbsp italian seasoning
about 1tbsp garlic powder
about 1 cup of olives with pimientos, sliced (drained)
2 cups of water (i just use the can of tomato sauce)

How Do I Make Red Rice?

Here is how you make Red Rice:

in a deep frying pan cook and ground up the turkey sausage on medium-high heat. mix in italian seasoning and garlic powder.after the sausage is cooked add the rice to one side. poor in 1 can of tomato sauce. mix up. add 1 cup of water and mix again. add the 2nd can of tomato sauce and another cup of water and mix. add the olives and pimientos (drained from the juice). mix everything together. Add more seasoning to taste.lower heat to low-medium heat. scrape the bottom and flip rice over every 10-15minutes or so, to keep the bottom from burning. if it is cooking the bottom too quickly, lower heat. cover and cook until rice is not crunchy.
