1 (16 oz) package penne rigate, bow-tie or radiatore pasta
2 tsp olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/4 tsp cinnamon
3/4 pound lean ground beef
Salt
1 can (14 oz) Whole tomatoes in puree (whole tomatoes in juice is fine if you can’t find puree)
1/2 cup dark seedless raisins
16 Calamata Olives or green olives
1 jar of stage 2 baby peas
Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Here is how you make Penne Rigate with Sweet and Spicy Picadillo:

1. Prepare pasta as directed.2. In a nonstick 12-inch skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, until hot. Add onion and cook, stirring frequently, until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic, cinnamon and cayenne pepper; cook 30 seconds. Increase heat to medium-high; add ground beef and ½ tsp salt and cook, stirring frequently, until beef begins to brown, about 5 minutes. Drain fat, if necessary. Stir in tomatoes with their puree, raisins, baby peas and olives, breaking up tomatoes with side of spoon, and cook until sauce thickens slightly, about 5 more minutes.3. When pasta has cooked to desired doneness, remove one cup of pasta cooking water. Drain pasta and return to saucepot. Add ground beef mixture and reserved pasta cooking water; toss well.
