The ingredients for Spanakopita Turkey Burgers are:

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
3 cloves of garlic, 2 chopped, 1 crushed
1 red onion, 1/2 diced, 1/2 thinly sliced
1 box, 10 ounces, frozen spinach, defrosted and squeezed dry
2 teaspoons dried oregano, lightly crushed in the palm, divided
1/4 pound feta cheese crumbles
2 pounds ground turkey breast
1 tablespoon grill seasoning (Montreal Steak Seasoning by McCormick)
1 medium cucumber
2 plum tomatoes
1 cup good quality plain, non-fat yogurt (look for Greek yogurt)
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper


How Do I Make Spanakopita Turkey Burgers?

Here is how you make Spanakopita Turkey Burgers:

Peel cucumber. Thinly slice about 1/2 of cucumber and set aside. Remove seeds from remaining half of cucumber and roughly chop. Place cucumber, crushed garlic clove, yogurt, one (1) teaspoon oregano and juice of 1/2 lemon in food processor. Add a ground pepper and salt to taste and process until smooth. Remove to container and refrigerate while preparing bugers.Wring the defrosted spinach dry. Place in a large bowl with ground turkey, one (1) teaspoon oregano, grill seasoning and feta crumbles. Set aside.Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oil and red onion. Saute for two minutes. Add the chopped garlic and saute for another two minutes or until onions have softened but not browned. Remove onions and garlic from pan to cool slightly. When cool, add to bowl with turkey mixture and combine thoroughly. Shape turkey mixture into 6 patties, 1 inch thick. Raise heat on pan to medium high. Add patties and cook six minutes on each side or until juices run clear.Serve on toasted buns (not included in calorie count) or a bed of spinach salad.
