What Are The Ingredients For Guilt-Free Shepard?s Pie (with turkey and cauliflower) Recipe? The ingredients for Guilt-Free Shepard?s Pie (with turkey and cauliflower) are: 1 large head of cauliflower1 pack of extra lean ground turkey 1 egg (whole or 2 egg whites) 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth 1-2 tbsp xanthan gum (or other thickener such as corn starch) 1-2 tbsp minced garlic 1 tbsp garlic powder 1/2 cup minced onion any amount broccoli florets 2-3 tbsp cup fat free sour cream ? cup dry curd cottage cheese (optional) salt and pepper to taste How Do I Make Guilt-Free Shepard?s Pie (with turkey and cauliflower)? Here is how you make Guilt-Free Shepard?s Pie (with turkey and cauliflower): Cut the cauliflower into large chunks, and boil until they just turn soft (poke with fork to test). Strain, and throw into magic bullet with sour cream, garlic powder and S&P (you can also add the dry curd cottage cheese if you want), set aside. Brown the turkey and saute with the onion, garlic and finely chopped broccoli (you can also add whatever veggies you want here.. corn, spinach whatever). I made this a few days ago, so I?m trying to recall exactly what I did from here, so bear with me! I think I let the ground turkey mixture cool a bit, then added the beaten egg. Put the turkey mixture in a lightly greased pan (or 4 little ones). Heat the chicken stock and whisk in the xanthan gum (or corn starch-- I use xanthan gum to keep starches low [can be bought at most health food stores])-- continue to whisk and simmer until it thickens up...this is the ?turkey gravy?! Pour this over top of the turkey mixture and top with the ?mashed potatoes?. Cover with tinfoil and bake for approx a half an hour at 350F. I removed the tinfoil for another 10 mins and finished it off with a quick suntan under the broiler to get it nice and crispy on top. This was delish. As long as he doesn?t read this, I?m pretty sure I could make this for my boyfriend and he might not even tell the difference (or at least if I did half potato, half cauliflower top he wouldn?t!)
