Crush and peel garlic. Chop finely.Heat oil in large saucepan and saute onion and garlic for 5 minutes or until onion is clear.Peel potatoes and grate. Scrub carrots and cut into 1cm cubes. Add chicken stock to saucepan.Bring to the boil and add potatoes, carrots and mixed herbs. Cook for 15minutes or until potatoes are mushy and carrots are cooked.Add milk , mussels, shrimps and smoked fish (sometimes I will add scallops also).Bring to the boil.Season with salt and pepper.
