What Are The Ingredients For Vegetarian trio: salty, spicy, sweet Recipe? The ingredients for Vegetarian trio: salty, spicy, sweet are: 1 large onion (sweet is best)Pinch of sugar (optional) .5 cup Frozen shelled edamame 1/5 package Trader Joe's Frozen Prig Khing Green Beans* Olive oil *This recipe is not entirely vegetarian because the sauce for the green beans I used contains small amount of shrimp. If you like, you could use plain green beans and your own spicy sauce, such as Thai Chile Sauce. How Do I Make Vegetarian trio: salty, spicy, sweet? Here is how you make Vegetarian trio: salty, spicy, sweet: Core the onion, removing the bulb (this reduces gas emitted, so you will cry less). Now take a sharp knife and cut the onion into small strips. Caramelizing onions:Take a wok or cast iron skillet and pour in enough olive oil to coat the bottom. Bring to medium-high heat. Add the onions on a single layer. Bring heat down to medium and allow the onions to cook. It is not necessary to stir constantly, as you would with a stir-fry. Just stir occasionally until the onions have taken on a rich brown color. --You can stir in a pinch of sugar if you like, to help speed up the caramelizing process. I also tend to blacken my onions just a bit, to make them crispy. It's probably not as healthy, but fun every once and a while.Cook edamame: While the onions are browning, on another burner bring 2-3 cups of water to boil in a small pan. Then add the edamame and a couple pinches of salt. Wait for the water to return for a boil, then cook for 5 minutes. When finished, drain and place in small bowl. You can also sprinkle a little more salt on the top, if you're not too worried about sodium content. By now the onions should be done. Remove from pan, and use a small amount of water (perhaps a teaspoon) to deglaze pan and bring up flavors. Pour the sauce over the onions. Green beans: I used Trader Joe's Frozen Prig Khing Green beans, so preparation was very easy. I also used the same pan that I had prepared the onions in. Simply add a little more olive oil, then stir fry the green beans for about 3-5 minutes over medium heat until no longer frozen. Then add sauce and sautee, stirring occasionally, for another 3 minutes. That's all! Plate in any way you want, but when the three are eaten together I found they balance each other out beautifully and make a great alternative main course or appetizer.Enjoy!Number of Servings: 1Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user THORNM.What's The Nutritional Info For Vegetarian trio: salty, spicy, sweet? The nutritional information for Vegetarian trio: salty, spicy, sweet is:
