3 cans of tomato sauce
1 can diced tomatoes
1/2 c diced green bell peppers
3/4 c diced onions
1/4 c unpacked brown sugar
2 Tbsp soy sauce
2 Tbsp Ketchup
1 Tbsp onion powder
1 Tbsp garlic powder
2 Tbsp Italian Seasonings
1 lb lasagna noodles
8 oz ricotta cheese
16 oz cottage cheese
16 oz mozzarella cheese
1/4 c parmesan cheese


How Do I Make Connie's Homemade Lasagna?

Here is how you make Connie's Homemade Lasagna:

Boil lasagna nodles in large pot of water. Drain & rinse. Brown ground beef in pan - drain off fat. Add all seasonings/spices, stirring them in. Add peppers & onions - sauteeing for a few minutes. Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, ketchup, brown sugar, & soy sauce. Cook on medium heat for about 15 minutes. In bowl, mix all of the cheeses, except reserve 1 c of the mozzarella. Spread abt 1 cup of prepared tomato sauce mixture in bottom of 12"x18" baking dish/pan. Place 4 noodles across the bottom on top of sauce - across longest end to end. Spread 1 1/2 c more of sauce over the noodles, take 1/3 of the cheese mixture & drop randomly across this layer - pat down to spread it. Continue layering like this, until you are down to 5 noodles. Place these last 5 noodles across from shortest side to side. Spread the last of the sauce over this layer of noodles, being sure to coat each noodle to prevent them from getting crunchy. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over entire top. Cover with aluminum foil, making a tent over it.
