This is my mum's recipe. It deviates from the norm I think in that as well as canned tomatoes, you add a tin of Campbell's Condensed tomato soup (not made up with water) to the sauce - making it very rich and creamy.

What Are The Ingredients For Rich Bolognese Sauce Recipe?

The ingredients for Rich Bolognese Sauce are:

1 can of Cambell's/Baxter's (UK) Condensed Low-Fat Tomato soup
2 tins chopped/plum tomatoes
500g lean beef mince
1 large clove garlic, chopped
1 or 2 medium white onions, chopped
250g mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
1 tsp oil to fry vegetables (optional - can dry-fry)
a good shake of Italian mixed dried herbs added while cooking (or similar - oregano, basil and parsley would work)
Salt and pepper to season
Pasta of choice, or baked potato etc. cooked, to serve
Grated cheese, to serve (Optional)


How Do I Make Rich Bolognese Sauce?

Here is how you make Rich Bolognese Sauce:

Brown (dry-fry if preferred) the mince in a large pan (I use a wok as it's deep enough). Remove mince and set aside. Cook the garlic and onions in 1 tsp oil until translucent (again, oil optional). Add the mushrooms and cook for at least 5 mins. Return the mince to the pan. Pour in the two tins of tomatoes, breaking them up into chunks with a spoon if using the unchopped plum variety. Stir to mix, add the whole can of tomato soup and stir again, carefully. Add a very generous shake of the mixed herbs, bring to boil, lower heat and allow to simmer for a min of 30mins, stirring occasionally. After 10 mins or so of simmering, season to taste with salt and pepper, and again adjust seasoning if necessary later. Serve with cooked pasta and optional grated cheese!Serving Size:?4 generous servings
