Once garlic is very lightly golden in color, add clams & juice to skillet. Stir & simmer for a few minutes. Add white wine, bring to a low boil or until alcohol evaporates. This may take about 10 minutes. Add canned, diced tomatoes, (optional-if making a red sauce, no tomaotes will make white sauce), salt & pepper. Pour clam sauce over cooked & drained whole wheat spaghetti. Serve immediately.
