1 Bay leaf
1 small onion (white or red)
100ml Red Wine
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp mixed herbs (oregano, sage, thyme, basil, margoram)

Here is how you make Homemade pasta sauce:

Firstly, soften the onion in a little oil (I use rapeseed oil) for a couple of minutes before adding the garlic and continue to soften for a couple of minutes. Be sure not to burn either the garlic or the onions. Add the tomatoes, wine, sugar, mixed herbs and bay.Cook and reduce this for approximately 15 minutes.
