This is a kid approved healthy spaghetti. Whole wheat noodles and lean meat make it easy to indulge in this comfort food. My family always eats more than one serving, but I don't mind because my finicky 5-year-old who hates vegetables all of a sudden is getting plenty of fiber in this meal. It's also great as leftovers, so I make plenty for my work lunches. It also freezes well if you choose to make meals ahead of time.

deer meat, ground (can substitute ground turkey or ground hog, all are lean meat, we have hunters in the family)
spaghetti sauce of your choice (also tomato sauce, just add more spices)
pre-minced garlic (in jar)
canned tomatoes, diced (drained)
Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce, low sodium
Mushrooms
canned artichoke pieces (drained)
spices of choice: oregano, basil, salt, pepper, sometimes parsley and rosemary

Here is how you make Nummy Lean Meat and Wheat Spaghetti:

1. Start water boiling for pasta2. Start browning defrosted ground meat. Add minced garlic.3. Add salt, pepper, oregano, basil (and other spices you choose) and Worcestershire sauce to meat as it browns. Break up meat as it cooks.4. Water should be boiling half way through the meat-browning process, add noodles to water. I usually break the noodles in half to fit a smaller pot and for my children to eat easier.5. As you finish browning meat, add canned tomatoes, mushrooms and artichokes. Get vegetables to the same heat of the meat before adding spaghetti sauce, then bring sauce to slight boil before turning off heat. *Note: if you like your mushrooms very soft, I suggest saut?ing them in a separate pan with PAM or purchasing canned mushrooms).*6. Drain noodles (usually soft enough by now).7. Stir noodles and meat/sauce in a serving bowl. 8. Serve with side salad and garlic bread, if you want.
