Put oil into pan and add chopped onions - cook till slightly browned. After about 20-30 minutes the onions should be ready and the lentils a bit softer. At this point add the bulgur and onions with oil and add salt and pepper to taste. Keep an eye on the pot and add water if needed. Cook until lentils and bulgur are tender.Note: This can also be made with 1 cup white or brown rice instead of bulgur.
