1 Head cabbage
2 Small cans of diced tomatoes(3 cups worth)
1 Large can tomato puree(3/4 of can)
1.5 Pounds 93%lean ground beef
3 Cups long grain white rice + water
1Medium onion
1 T canola oil
Salt to taste
Course ground pepper to taste
Toothpicks


How Do I Make Cabbage Rolls?

Here is how you make Cabbage Rolls:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees then take the head of cabbage and put it into a large pot of water to float the head, and heat to a boil. (The cabbage is done when you can peel whole leaves off.)2.Cook the rice following the directions on the box.3. While the cabbage heats and the rice cooks, dice the onion and saute in the T of canola oil on medium heat.4. When the onion smells great and is almost translucent, not colored, add the ground beef.5. Add the course pepper and salt to your taste, and cook the meat thoroughly, then add the rice to the mix.6. Peel 14 good leaves off of the cabbage head, then put about 3/4 of a cup of the rice/meat filling and roll up tucking in the sides like a fajita or egg roll and secure the roll with 2 or more toothpicks. Make sure you put a consistant number of toothpicks in to avoid surprises!7. Put finished rolls into an oven safe vessel with half of the puree as the base.8. After all the rolls are finished top with any extra filling and the rest of the puree, as well as the diced tomatoes.9. Put into a 350 degree oven and bake for 30 minutes.10.
