I only eat REAL cheese, no cheese food or cheese product. Kroger makes an inexpensive real American cheese. I also only use Falfurrias Sweet Cream Salted Butter, found only at Walmart. It is the BEST tasting butter I have found (and I have tried several brands over the years). How Do I Make Basic Grilled Cheese - Somer Style?Here is how you make Basic Grilled Cheese - Somer Style: Spread a very thin layer of butter on only 1 side of the bread. Place buttered side down on heated skillet. Add cheese slice on top of bread. Spread a very thin layer of butter to another slice of bread and place buttered side up on the cheese to complete the sandwich. When bottom of bottom slice looks toasted, use a spatula and flip the sandwich over so the other buttered side can toast. Remove from skillet once the bread is toasted and place on plate. Wait a minute or so before eating so you do not burn your tongue or mouth.
