What Are The Ingredients For Mom's Chicken Soup Recipe?The ingredients for Mom's Chicken Soup are: 1 tbsp canola oil3 carrots, sliced 3 celery stalks, chopped 1/2 lb mushrooms, chopped 1 large onion, chopped 3 tbsp water whole chicken, rinsed and dried 1 lb chicken hearts (optional) 2 cans condensed chicken broth 5 cups water 1/2 cup dried barley 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper How Do I Make Mom's Chicken Soup?Here is how you make Mom's Chicken Soup: Heat the oil in a large stockpot or dutch oven. Add carrots, celery, mushrooms, onion and 3 tbsp water. Cook until veggies are tender and golden.Place the chicken (breast side down) in the pot. Add chicken hears, broth and water. Heat on high until broth begins to boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 35 minutes (or until chicken is cooked through). Remove the chicken and hearts from the pot. Set aside to cool. Skim as much fat as possible off the surface.Add the barley, salt and pepper to the pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer 20 minutes or until the barley is tender. Meanwhile, when the chicken is cool enough to handle, carefully remove meat from the bones and chop it up.
