4 sheets pampas light puff pastry
4 sheets pampas light shortcrust pastry
1 egg, lightly beaten

1 tbsp olive oil
2 onions, chopped
1.5kg lean chuck steak, diced
4.5 cups beef stock
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 cup red wine
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp cornflour

How Do I Make Meat pies?

Here is how you make Meat pies:

Heat oil, add onion and cook until soft. Add the meat and cook for 5 minutes or until sealed. Add the tomato paste, stock, wine and worcestershire sauce and simmer, uncovered, until meat is tender (at least an hour). Blend cornflour and water and add to beef. Stir for 4 minutes or until mixture has thickened and returned to a simmer. Add salt and pepper to taste. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Spray pie tins with olive oil spray and line with shortcrust pastry. Add filling, top with puff pastry and seal, trimming off excess pastry. Brush with egg and bake for 30 minutes or until golden.
