Jalapeno Peppers, 1/2 - 1 cup, sliced
Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped

Here is how you make Ya-Ya Black Bean Soup:

In a large pot over medium heat add minced garlic, about 1-2 tablespoons. Add cumin seed and roast the garlic. Tip: Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to this so that it doesnt burn the pan.Then drain and add TWO of the cans of black beans. Draining them reduces the amount of sodium.Take the other can of black beans and mush up as many of the beans as you can. You can use a potato masher for this, a hand blender, or even a fork. This thickens the soup. Add to pot.Season as desired with garlic salt, ground cumin, salt & pepper. Add one can or bottle of your favorite beer. Add can of mild diced green chilies. Also add jalapenos and onions (note: you can also add your favorite vegetables, too).Add 1 1/2 cups of the chicken broth. You can also add water if you would like, to further cut the sodium.Put on simmer for approximately 30-45 minutes.Once done you can top it with cilantro, green onions and a dollop of sour cream. For a treat add 1 tablespoon of real bacon bits. (not included in nutritional breakdown).Makes approximately 20 1.5 -cup servings (which yields 3 quarts).
