What Are The Ingredients For Cossack Pie Recipe?The ingredients for Cossack Pie are: 1 unbaked pie crust1/4 lb of fresh mushrooms (reserve caps, slice stems) 1 c. chopped onions 1 c. shredded green cabbage 1 c. thinly sliced carrots 1 cup thinly sliced broccoli 1 finely chopped scallion salt & pepper to taste 1 T. margarine (I just spray the pan) 2 T. flour 1/2 t. caraway seed (can use ground) 1/2 t. basil (dried) 2 T. vegetable broth 1/2 t. dill weed (dried) 1/3 c. fat free cottage cheese 1/2 c. egg substitute or 2 lg eggs 3/4 c. mixed fat free sour cream and fat free plain yogurt How Do I Make Cossack Pie?Here is how you make Cossack Pie: Saute all vegetables EXCEPT scallion and mushroom caps until just tender. Salt lightly as they saute. Add spices. Remove from heat and toss with flour and broth. Puree eggs and cottage cheese together in blender. Add salt and pepper. Add pureed mixture to vegetables along with the chopped, raw scallion. Mix well. Spread into crust. Saute the sliced mushroom caps in a little margarine--about 5 minutes. Spread the sour cream/yogurt mixture on top of the vegetable filling. Arrange mushroom caps on top, gently. Dust with paprika. Bake 40 minutes or until set at 350 degrees f. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Makes 6 servings.
