Here is how you make Grandma's Mystery Salad:

Dissolve Jello in water. Heat pineapple and sugar in a small sauce pan on the stovetop until boiling. Add dissolved jello and combine. Set aside to cool until mixture begins to gel (can cool in the refrigerator). This can take an hour or two.Once mixture begins to set up, remove from fridge and mix in cool whip, nuts and cheese.
