My older boys hated French toast - until they tried this! It's now our traditional Christmas breakfast - I mix it up on Christmas Eve, and then on Christmas morning, take it out of the fridge and pop it in the oven before the kids are allowed to come out for their stockings, and when they're done oohing and ahing over the contents of their stockings, - the french toast is ready to eat!

Here is how you make Overnight Baked French Toast:

In a bowl, whick together the first 5 ingredients. Pour about a cupful into the bottom of a 9 X 13 pan - place 6 slices of bread in a single layer in the pan. Pour a bit of the egg mixture over each slice, then layer another 6 pieces of bread on top. Pour the rest of the egg mixture over top, then cover tightly with plastic wrap. Press down lightly on the plastic wrap to halp the bread soak up the egg mixture.Place in the fridge overnight.In the morning, preheat the oven to 400 degrees and butter 2 cookie sheets (or spray with oil spray.)Using a wide spatula, carefully seprate the slices and place them onthe cookie sheets. Bake for 10 minutes, then flip the slices over and bake for 10-15 more minutes, or until puffed and golden.Serve with syrup, butter, or our favorite, homemade fruit preserves!
