The ingredients for Mashed Beans are:

2 cups pinto beans
4 cups water (must cover top of beans by two inches)
1/4 tsp olive oil
1 tbsp garlic powder
1/2 tbsp Kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper


How Do I Make Mashed Beans?

Here is how you make Mashed Beans:

Soak beans overnight in water. Rinse beans and check for any bad ones. *You can cook these in the crockpot or on the stove. I opt for stove top because I mash them. Put beans in a small stock pot, add water to cover beans generously and add the olive oil, cover. Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer and cook for 1 to 2 hours. Mine take almost 2 hours. Drain off all the water, retaining about 1/4 cup for later. Add the garlic, salt and peppr then mash beans, I use a hand blender.
