Here is how you make Whole Wheat Baked Macaroni and Cheese:

1. For the sauce, melt the 4 tbsp. of butter over medium-heat. Add the flour to make a paste. Slowly add the 4 cups of milk to the mixture and continue to cook over medium heat until mixture begins to thicken like pudding (about 15 minutes).2. Remove from heat and add the 16 slices of cheese and mix until cheese is almost melted. Add salt and pepper to taste.3. Mix the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce together and put into an 11x13 butter greased glass pan.4. Sprinkle the 4 slices of cheese for topping on top of the mixture and then sprinkle the 20 saltine crackers on top of that.5.
