Here is how you make Simple Chickpea Side:

Dice the onion, and grate the garlic and ginger before heating the oil* in a medium sized skillet. Depending on the size of the pan, there should be enough oil to barely cover the bottom of the skillet. Cook the onion, garlic and ginger together until the onion becomes translucent.When the onions, garlic, and ginger are ready, add the can of chickpeas and the broth**. Allow the skillet to come to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook until most of the liquid has evaporated, then with a spoon or a spatula, mash about half of the peas. Add soy sauce to taste, about 1/2 to 1 tbsp.
