Put 4 Tbl shortening into an iron skillet and put in 450 degree oven to get hot. Place buttermilk, soda, sugar and salt in a bowl. Add 1/2 c. flour & cornmeal until the batter is the consistency of cake batter. Add 2 eggs, which should readily sink into the batter. When the pan and grease are hot, pour hot grease into the batter.
