1/2 C oatmeal, course ground
1/2 C oatmeal, fine ground
1/3 C brown sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/3 chilled butter
1 egg, Beaten
2 Tbsp maple syrup
1/2 tsp maple extract
1/2 C fat Free Vanilla yogurt
1/2 C pecans, fine chopped

Egg Wash
1 egg white
1Tbsp fat free vanilla yogurt

Maple Glaze
3/4 C powdered sugar
3Tbsp low fat cream cheese
1 Tbsp maple syrup
1-1/2 tsp maple extract


How Do I Make Maple Oat Scones?

Here is how you make Maple Oat Scones:

In large bowl combine dry ingredients for scones. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until the pieces are smaller than the size of peas. Stir in chopped nuts. In small bowl stir together the yogurt, egg, and maple syrup.Add this to the dry ingredients. Mix until the ingredients are just combined, dont over do it. Once the liquid is gone and the dough is coming together(just a little flour is left in the bowl), Stop. remove the dough and knead until all the dough holds together. Form a ball and pat down into a 7"-8" circle (1-1/4 to 1-1/2 in thick) cut into 8 equal triangles. Place on greased cookie sheet (or use parchment)Beat egg wash ingredients together. Use brush and apply a thin coat of egg wash to all exposed sides of scones,Bake at 375F for 20min. While the scones bake, mix the glaze ingredients in a Small bowl.
