Here is how you make Savory Indian mashed potatoes:

Boil potatoes until soft. Should be able to cut it with a blunt spoon. Boil egg until hard. No flowing yolk. Chop red onion. Cut the boiled potato into small cubes. Put the potato and chopped onions in a mixing bowl. Chop the egg and put it in the bowl along with salt paprika and oil. Mash them together until potato is soft and smooth. Egg will show up as nearly 1/4" whites spread across the mashed potatoes. Make sure oil, salt and paprika is spread evenly across the mash. You can mix it couple of times while mashing.
