What Are The Ingredients For Jewelled Rice Recipe?The ingredients for Jewelled Rice are: Basmati Rice, 250gOnion, 1 small, finely sliced Pinch of saffron strands soaked in tsp hot water Whole black peppercorns almonds finely slivered, 2 tbsp pistachios finely slivered, 2 tbsp Barberries (dried), 2 tbsp Orange peel, very finely shredded, 2 tbsp handful chopped parsley seasoning olive oil, 2 tsp How Do I Make Jewelled Rice?Here is how you make Jewelled Rice: Wash rice in several changes of water, then soak for 30mins.Meanwhile, heat a small amount of water in a pan until boiling, add the orange peel and simmer for a few mins, drain and reserve the peel.Heat the pan and dry fry the slivered nuts carefully, removing them as soon as they begin to change colour and side aside. Heat 1 tsp of the oil in pan and fry the barberries for a few mins until they change colour, then side aside. Heat the other 1 tsp of the oil in pan and fry onion until browned, add the whole peppercorns to pan and fry for another 30 secs or so.Add the drained rice and stir to coat with the oil, add the rest of the ingredients, reserving just a few of the almonds, pistachios and barberries for the garnish, back into the pan, add some seasoning, the saffron and twice the quantity of hot wqater to the rice. Cover pan and cook for12 mins without disturbing.
