I use a small crock pot... adjust amts for larger potadd enough dry beans and water to make a slightly soupy full pot of beans. Chop up the ham and add it. add Cajun seasoning and alpine touch (or use onion powder and salt)Cook on high for about 6-8 hours. Check after 6 hours or so and make sure seasoning and water / beans amounts are good... you can always add water if you need to.When beans are done, cook up about a half pound of bacon (can use the bacon to make breakfast burritos or whatever you want) should render about a quarter cup bacon fat. Add it to the beans (careful not to splash)Stir it all up. You can eat the beans as soup or you can mash them in a pan (refried) and use for tostados, burritos, etc...
