1 tbsp Kikkoman Soy Sauce
0.25 tsp Ginger, ground
1 tbsp Peanut Oil
1.5 oz Cashew Nuts, oil roasted (salt added) (about 27 kernels)
1 medium (2-1/2" dia) onion raw
1.5 cup, chopped carrots, raw
1 stalk, large (11"-12" long) celery, raw
2 cups Frozen Green Peas


How Do I Make Oriental barley pilaf?

Here is how you make Oriental barley pilaf:

Chop onions, celery, garlic, and carrots. In a medium saucepan, combine barley and chicken or vegetable broth. Cover. Bring to a boil over high heat. Immediately reduce heat to low and cook for 10 minutes. Turn off heat. Leave tightly covered and allow to stand off the heat for 5 minutes. While barley is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add peanut oil, turn skillet to coat. Add onion and celery. Cook 2-3 minutes, just until beginning to soften. Add carrots. Continue to cook for 2-3 more minutes, stirring frequently. Add garlic and cook an additional minute or 2, continuing to stir. Add cashews, and cook an additional 102 mintues. Add frozen peas, and cook, stirring frequently, until all vegetables are lightly cooked and heated through. Add barley to skillet. sprinkle wtih ginger. Add sroy sauce. Toss thoroughly until the vegetables and sauce are evenly distributed throughout the pilaf. Turn off heat, cover and allow to stand for 3-5 mintues for flavors to blend.
