-1 can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
-1 large red pepper, halved and seeds removed
-1 egg
-1 cup onions
-16 baby carrots
-0.25 cup zucchini, sliced
-1 cup rolled oats,dry
-2 slices of bread, made into crumbs
-0.5 package of crackers, crumbled
-0.5 cup of Cheddar cheese, shredded
-3 cloves of garlic

How Do I Make Kidney Bean Burgers?

Here is how you make Kidney Bean Burgers:

Place beans in blender or food processor and mix until smooth. You may need to add 0.25 cup of water, but be careful as to how much you add as the more you add, the more dry ingredients you will need to add.Add 0.5 cup of onions, carrots, zucchini, garlic and 1/2 of the red pepper to the blender. Mix until well blended then pour into a large bowl.Add the oats and 0.5 package of crackers crumbled to the bean mixture. The smaller the crumbs the better. If you have large chunks of cracker in your burger, the burgers texture will be more mushy. Mix together and attempt to make a patty out of the mixture. If it is too soft and sticky, add bread crumbs. Add any spices you wish, including 2 tbsp of mustard and 2 tbsp of ketchup. Also add the other 1/2 cup of chopped onions. Chop the remaining 1/2 of the red pepper and add to the mixture and mix with your hands. Add 0.5 cup of shredded cheese, mix.Form patties and fry in a non-stick pan on the stove. You should not need any oil. Allow to cook about 5 minutes on medium heat per side. Before flipping the burger, gently move it to see if it will begin to fall apart. If it does, it may need a few more minutes.Makes about 12 good sized burgers. Serve with whole wheat kaiser buns, and your favorite burger condiments!
