6 Large Eggs
3 Extra Large Eggs (I had only a few extra large eggs left and needed to use them up, but this could be done with 9 large eggs instead.)
2 Cups Nonfat Milk
3 Cups Strawberries, Sliced or Chopped
1/2 Cup Maple Syrup

Garnish With:
Powdered Sugar, 4 tbsp, unsifted
One or Two Sliced Strawberries

Here is how you make Mother's Day Red White and Blue French Toast Casserole:

1. Toast bread at 325F for 25 minutes, rotating bread on cookie sheets halfway through.2. Slice or chop strawberries.3. Spray a 9X13 casserole dish with non-stick spray. Cube the bread slices, sprinkling the fruit into the mixture.4. Mix together the milk, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla until well blended. Pour slowly over the french bread, allowing it to soak-in a bit. Push gently on the bread to submerge as much as possible.5. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.6. Remove plastic wrap and drizzle maple syrup on top.7. Bake uncovered at 350 F for 60 minutes, or until puffed.8.
