Here is how you make Nana's Baked Macaroni and Cheese:

Cook pasta; rinse & drain well. Preheat oven to 375. Lightly spray an 8x8 casserole dish with cooking spray. Spread about half the pasta in the bottom of the dish. Top with half of the cheese cubes and butter pats, spreading evenly. Spread the rest of the pasta in the dish, and top with the remaining cheese and butter. Pour evaporated milk over the top just until you can see it. It may or may not use the whole can, but usually comes pretty close.
