What Are The Ingredients For Chili Burgers Recipe?The ingredients for Chili Burgers are: 1 c chopped onion4 garlic cloves, minced or pressed 2 t olive oil 1/2 c peeled and grated carrots 1 t minced jalapeno pepper (remove seeds and ribs for milder flavor) 1 1/2 t chili powder 1 t ground cumin 3 c cooked pinto or kidney beans (two 15-oz cans, drained) 2 T Dijon mustard 2 T soy sauce 2 T ketchup or 1 T tomato paste 1 1/2 c rolled oats salt & pepper to taste 2 T mayonnaise 12 leaves Romaine lettuce Hamburger buns (whole wheat preferred) 6 slices fresh tomatoes How Do I Make Chili Burgers?Here is how you make Chili Burgers: Saute the onions, garlic, and jalapeno in the oil for about 5 minutes, until the onions begin to soften. Add the carrots, chili powder, and cumin and cook on low heat for 5 minutes. Set aside. Mash the beans in a large bowl with a potato masher or the back of a spoon. Add the mustard, soy sauce, ketchup or tomato paste, and the sauteed veggies. Mix in the oats. Add salt and pepper to taste. Moisten your hands and form the burger mixture into six 3- to 4-inch patties. Lightly spray or oil a nonstick skillet and cook the burgers on medium-low heat for 5 to 8 minutes on each side. Serve on whole wheat toast or a sesame bun.
