You may wish to season water with poultry seasoning or even boullion. Melt butter in large sauce pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until soft. Drop heat to very low.Prepare gnocchi per directions on package. When the gnocchi have 2 minutes left, turn heat under the onions to high and brown butter--be careful not to scorch the onions. When the gnocchi have 1 minute left, add raisins to the boiling gnocchi to soften them.Remove onions from heat. Drain gnocchi & raisins. While they are draining, add walnuts, olive oil, and sage to the onion mixture. Add gnocchi and raisins to onion mixture, tossing to coat. Salt & pepper to taste.
