1 1/2 medium shallots, minced
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
Fresh parsley, oregano, and basil - chopped (about 2 Tbsp total)


How Do I Make Fresh Marinara?

Here is how you make Fresh Marinara:

Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the shallot, Italian seasoning, pepper and crushed red pepper. Cook, stirring often, until the shallot is soft, 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly reduced and thickened, about 8 minutes. Add chopped herbs to the sauce during last 2 minutes of cooking. Serve over chard rolls or your favorite pasta. **Note** This makes a *lot* of sauce. We usually only use 1/2 the sauce for 4 servings.
