1/4 Cup of raw buckwheat groats (or millet, brown rice)

Here is how you make Garam Masala Soup:

Heat garlic and onion in coconut oil on medium heat for about 5 minutes.Add chopped celery, carrot, and sweet potato. Stir in spices, and continue to heat for 5 - 10 minutes.Add vegetable broth, lentils, and buckwheat. Stir and turn to high heat until boiling.Once boiling, cover and simmer for 30 - 40 minutes.Once all vegetables are soft, remove from heat and stir in greens.Blend soup with a hand blender or transfer to a food processor, and blend until smooth.
