In a large frying pan, saute onion, garlic and ginger in vegetable broth until translucent, about 5 minutes over med heat. Add more vegetable broth as needed, to keep from burning.2. Add tomatoes and seasonings, except garam masala3. Add drained chickpeas, stir to combine over medium-low heat for about 15 minutes until tomatoes have broken down, the chickpeas have softened and the flavors meld, stirring occasionally. 4. Steam yams in microwave enough to soften them - about 5 minutes5. Add spinach to the vegetable mixture and stir to combine.6. Cook for another minute or so, until it's heated. 7. Add yams, stir to combine, careful not to break the yams apart by over mixing8.
