Here is how you make Rose's Fabulous Lentil Stew:

Pour oil into a large pot. Fry down the onions, celery, and carrots until onions are translucent and soft and the other vegetables are slightly browned, stirring often.Add minced garlic cloves, stirring about 30 seconds till the scent blooms. Add the uncooked lentils, stir around, and cover. Cook on medium for about 10 minutes.Uncover pot. Add 1 cup water with soup base. You may need extra water; you want to cover the vegetables and lentils. Cook about 45 minutes or until beans are soft. (If they refuse to get soft after that, add a pinch of baking soda.)Finish soup with a zot of the fig balsamic vinegar to taste.
