I freeze my tofu after bringing it home from the grocery store and then thaw it as I need it. The freezing process gives it a great texture for chili, tacos, and any other "meaty" items. If you are new to tofu or transitioning to vegetarian food / vegan food, this is a great way to realize tofu is not just a bland piece of yuck. :)

How Do I Make Tofu Wings by notyourbarbiegirl?

Here is how you make Tofu Wings by notyourbarbiegirl:

After opening your thawed tofu (see info in intro here), place the quarters between your hands (like in a prayer position) over the sink and squeeze as tight as you can to drain excess liquid from it. Cut each quarter into 4-6 pieces depending on how large you want your "wings". For a bit more dryness, you can place it under the broiler for 10-15 minutes. Also, the Food Saver is great for removing moisture. While the tofu is in the broiler, I mix my eggs, egg whites, Louisiana Hot Sauce, granulated garlic powder, and my cumin. In another bowl, I place my panko bread crumbs.I use my Misto sprayer (not sure how I ever lived without it) to spray the top side of my tofu and then place it face down in a hot skillet. While that side is browning, I spray the top side and then flip it when ready. At this point I like mine to look like a lightly toasted French toast. Of course, you can make it as crispy as you like. Once they are to your crispiness, remove from the skillet and dip into your egg mixture and then into your panko breading. I like a little more breading so I will dip it into the egg mix and then into the panko mix again. After this, I place them all on the cookie sheet I used earlier and place back into the oven at 450 degrees for about 20-25 mins. I like to serve mine with Bleu Cheese Yogurt Dressing, carrots, celery and some extra Louisiana Hot Sauce (or your choice of wing sauce)Serving Size: approx 8 pc per servingNumber of Servings: 4Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user TIAMBAILEY.
