A wheat-based meat substitute, this bakes up like bread. I slice it to use AS bread, for sandwiches; or, I dunk it in egg (okay, NOT vegan, but ovo-lacto-vegetarian) to make a savory French toast; it can be cubed and toasted in the oven as a chewy-crunchy crouton for soups or salads, as well.

How Do I Make Tomato Mushroom Yaki-fu?

Here is how you make Tomato Mushroom Yaki-fu:

Add dry ingredients to the food processor bowl; give it a fast whirl. Add liquid ingredients. Give it another whirl, until all ingredients are incorporated together. Place in an oven proof vessel of about 8"x4" oval (an aluminum Chipotle salad container works PERFECTLY!!) that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk. Turn the oven to 350 degrees, and bake for 35-to-45 minutes, or until the crust is set. Turn the oven off, and allow the loaf to cook with the residual heat. When cool, this may be sliced, cubed, and dried further, or eaten as is... try different Asian or Indian sauces with it.Again, questions? Comments? Exhortations? Feel free, and...keep coming back. It works, if you work it. So work it: you're worth it!Number of Servings: 6Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user TA24JC.
