Place lima beans in a large stock pot. Add enough water to reach two inches above the beans. Bring to a boil. Allow to boil around 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat, cover, and allow to sit for one hour. After one hour, drain beans and rinse under cold water. Set aside.In a large skillet. heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add onion and saute until tender and translucent, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat.Dice smoked sausage and add to onions. Place sausage mixture, beans, and chicken broth to the large stock pot.
