In large Dutch oven mix raw beef, dry beans, and seasonings together. Add water, bring to a boil. Cover reduce heat to simmer. Cook until beans are tender 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Do not add tomato products until beans are tender. Acid in the tomatoes can stop the cooking process.Once the beans are tender add the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. Bring to a boil.
