Heat oil in large saucepan over medium heat. Add onions & bell pepper. Cook until almost soft (7-8 min) add mushrooms, garlic and spices , cook 2-3 minutes. Increase heat to med high. Add half the beef & cook breaking up the pieces with a wooden spoon until no longer pink (3-4 min), add remaining beef & cook as before. Add beans, tomatoes, tomato puree & 1/2 tsp salt. Bring to boil, reduce heat to low, simmer covered for 1 hour-stirring occasionally. Remove lid and continue to simmer for another hour.
