When beef is cooked, add tomato paste, tomato sauce, brown sugar and spices. This may be done the night ahead too....................Bring beans to a boil in the beer/water they were soaking in, then simmer until ender (1-1/2 to 2-1/2 hours). Pour off & save excess liquid. ...................Add meat mixture, and simmer for an hour or so. Add extra liquid back in as needed. ...................Also good with venison instead of beef.
