The ingredients for Split Pea with Ham are:

16 oz. bag dried split peas
Bag frozen veggies (onion, celery, carrot mix)
2 quarts chicken broth (I use Better Than Bouillon)
1 bay leaf
1/4 t. thyme
Salt/Pepper to taste
Ham Bone & Ham (I used Honeybaked Ham, using about 3 cups diced Ham)



How Do I Make Split Pea with Ham?

Here is how you make Split Pea with Ham:

Makes about 9 1 1/2-cup servings.Wash/sort peas. Add broth to peas and bring to boil; simmer 2 mintues. Add frozen veggies, spices (not salt). Bring to boil and them simmer (covered) for 60-90 minutes. During the last 30 minutes add Ham & Ham bone (having already diced the ham off the bone). If desired, used a food mill or blender to puree 1/2 the soup. Season to taste with pepper and salt. Be careful of using salt if using ham bone as it can easily get too salty.
